Greenbook 3rd Ed: Online Collaboration

Currently under revision, the 3rd Edition of the Greenbook is expected to be completed before the end of the year and is targeted for implementation by all PBO-accredited training programs in 2010. Included in the revision project is the updating of the Curriculum and of all PBO policies and procedures pertinent to accreditation and training. The revision process is a collaborative effort of the Board and other invited members of the community, in particular the training officers of all the accredited training programs.

Instructions for Collaborators


GENERAL. A feature was set-up to facilitate online collaboration for the revision of the Greenbook. Discussions are carried out using a Forum Page found here. You may download the current version of the Greenbook 3rd Ed Working Draft here.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE. All incumbent Trustees are automatically allowed to participate. Training Officers of all accredited training programs will be invited to participate for the whole month of October. Invited members of the community need to secure login privileges from the Site and Forum Administrator, Dr. Eman de la Paz.

DISCLAIMER: The Board has made public the Working Draft of Greenbook 3rd Ed to allow stakeholders to have a glimpse of its evolution. The feedback of invited members of the community are important to us. The Board however reserves the right to decide on the final content and format of this document which is felt to be very important for post-graduate orthopaedic training in the Philippines.


WORK INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Download the current version of the draft here. Open the file and appraise for comments.
  2. Review the Revision History below to monitor current changes.
  3. Log-in to the Forums using your assigned username and password.
  4. Participate in the discussions. When commenting on specific portions of the current draft, please mention the Line Number and the Page Number to facilitate tracking by other collaborators.

REVISION HISTORY (Working Draft of the 3rd Edition)

Release 1: Initial Release of Draft Proposal (30 June 2009: Emmanuel M. de la Paz, MD)
Release 2: 1st Revision of the Working Draft (21 August 2009: Board Members En Banc, meeting held in Cebu City)
  • Changes to Preface made.
  • Added section “About the PBO” that includes a brief description of the PBO, including its Mission and Vision.
  • Semantics and Mechanics of Accreditation Categories reviewed and clarified. A new category, “Satellite”, added.
  • Requirements for Full Accreditation reviewed and clarified.
  • Process for Selection and Recruitment to training programs added. Participation of International Medical Graduates to accredited training programs defined. Process of Lateral Entry (transfer from one training program to another) elucidated.
  • A new coding scheme for logbook entries by trainees introduced.
Release 3: 2nd Revision of the Working Draft (05 September 2009: Board Members En Banc, meeting held at the Philippine Orthopedic Center, Manila)
  • New PBO Forms proposed. A standardized format of forms and a numbering system introduced.
Release 4: 3rd Revision of the Working Draft (14 September 2009: Emmanuel M. de la Paz, MD)
  • Table of Forms in Appendix A updated to reflect the new forms.
  • References to forms in the entire document updated.
  • Reordered the numbering of Instruments of Assessment in Chapter 4.
  • Added guidelines for "Satellite" institutions.
  • The term "Full Accreditaion" has been replaced with "Accredited" under Status of Program in Chapter 1. This is to avoid semantic confusion with the term "Fully Accredited Program" under Accreditation Categories of the same chapter.
  • Updated the operational definition of "Provisional Accreditation" in Status of Program in Chapter 1.
  • Added a section of "G. Changes in Numbers of Residents Post" in Chapter 1.
  • Added a section of "E. Appeals" in Chapter 2.
  • Added the legal provisions for the acceptance of IMG's into training programs.
Release 5: 4th Revision of the Working Draft (24 February 2010: Ad-Hoc Committee on Greenbook Revision - Emmanuel M. de la Paz, Leslie Reyes, Ric Liwag)
  • Added topic “F. Faculty Evaluation” in p. 15, Chapter 5 (Assessment and Feedback).
